Ingredients
1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (like Pillsbury flaky biscuits)
8 slices deli roast beef
8 slices provolone cheese
¼ cup melted butter
For the seasoning butter:
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon dried rosemary
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
For the au jus:
1 cup beef broth (preferably low sodium)
Instructions
1. Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
2. Prepare the Seasoned Butter
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
3. Assemble the Biscuits
Carefully separate the biscuit dough into 8 biscuits.
Flatten each biscuit slightly using your hands or a rolling pin, about ¼ inch thick.
Place a slice of roast beef and a slice of provolone cheese on one half of each flattened biscuit.
Fold the biscuit over to enclose the filling, pinching the edges to seal well. Try to seal completely to avoid cheese leaking out during baking.
4. Brush and Bake
Place the filled biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
Brush the tops generously with the seasoned butter mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
5. Prepare the Au Jus
While the biscuits bake, warm the beef broth in a small saucepan over low heat. You can add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a pinch of garlic powder if you want to boost the flavor. Keep warm until serving.
6. Serve
Remove the biscuits from the oven and transfer to a serving platter. Brush once more with the remaining seasoned butter for extra flavor and shine. Serve immediately with small bowls of warm au jus for dipping.
Serving Suggestions
Pair with a crisp green salad or roasted vegetables for a balanced meal.
For indulgence, serve alongside crispy fries or onion rings.
A light vegetable soup or fresh fruit salad offers a refreshing contrast to the richness.
Tips for Success
Use good-quality deli roast beef for the best flavor and tenderness.
Be sure to seal the biscuit edges well to prevent leaks during baking.
If you want extra gooey cheese, add a little shredded cheese inside before folding.
For an even richer au jus, simmer beef broth with a splash of red wine or beef drippings, if available.
